He combined the artistic wisdom of his predecessors with his own to create a distinct calligraphy personality and individuality of his own, earning him the affection of ‘Zhao’ school of thought. Zhao’s calligraphy is multi-faceted. He was very fond of the ‘Xing Shu’ calligraphy found in stone inscriptions of the Northern region. His calligraphy serves you an impression of dexterity and finesse as seen through his delicate yet commanding strokes. ‘Shi You Ji Jiu Zhang’ is one of the most remarkable works by Zhao.
